Introduction to Lomography at Koskela
Need a new hobby or a gift for the friend who has everything? This course wins our best bargain stamp: it's only $60 for a half-day of unfettered, filtered gloriousness. Bring along your own Lomo camera, borrow one from the Koskela team or purchase your very own analogue camera in-store. The introductory workshop introduces you to the history and hype behind Lomography and students get to play around with the tried-and-true Diana F+, Fisheye and Sprocket Rocket. Budding photographers who consider their snapshots particularly fetching can submit their pictures to Koskela’s Lomography exhibition for the chance to earn their stripes as an exhibiting artist.

Printmaking at the Rizzeria
If you're sick of all the mass-produced posters, postcards and stationery flooding the market, you're in luck. The Rizzeria team can help you make your own. They pride themselves on their printing know-how (which is way beyond the realm of Ctrl + P) and offer stencil-press courses on their Riso RP3700 printing machine. It prints one colour at a time, then layers them to produce hot-off-the-press stencil prints reminiscent of quirky, old-school rocker zines. Once students are properly acquainted with the old Riso, they can return to the Rizzeria HQ to create their own prints during the open print studio hours.

Butchery Skills at Victor Churchill
Is there any place better to learn the art of la boucherie than the meaty wonderland that is Victor Churchill? The Woollahra purveyors of fine meats offer courses in everything from handmade gourmet sausage making to ‘Let's Cook Meat’, which teaches the art of cooking the perfect Wagyu, pork crackling and more. The evening classes are run in-store and comprise eight students or less, so there's more one-on-one time with the expert tutors. At the end of the night, students take home some Victor Churchill goodies. However, if you already consider yourself a steak-cooking, meat-carving fiend, then you can have a course tailored to your particular culinary interest.

Yoga by the Sea
If you've been searching for your inner zen, you might find it doing the lotus pose before a Bondi sunrise. Then again, you could try Bronte or Tamarama too. The Yoga by the Sea classes are run at all these locations (indoors and outdoors) at varying times. They cater to all levels of ability, and while the mellow instructors are fluent in Namaste, their gentle instructions (accompanied by the soothing rumble crashing of waves) are guaranteed to put first-timers at ease. The Yin classes are gentler and more meditative, while the Yang offers a more rigorous body workout. You leave feeling calmer, more felxible and, for want of a better word, floatier. Arrive on the day or buy a five or 10-class pass. From $20 for casual visits. Private tutorials at Bondi Icebergs (or at your home for an extra $10) are also available.

Cheese-making at Cornersmith
The busy picklers from the Cornersmith cafe in Marrickville are now offering cheese-making classes with fromage buff Kristen Allan. Although students get their hands dirty whipping up labneh, ricotta and even yoghurt, there's plenty of time for a chat and a glass of perfectly matched wine. Everyone leaves with the skills to produce delicious homemade cheese in their own kitchens, along with a renewed understanding of where their food comes from. It's a food education in every sense.

Flower Bombs by Holly Hipwell at The School
From the woman who wants guerrilla floristry to take over the world comes 'flower bombing'. The School's Flower Bomb courses are so pretty, so colourful and so gosh darn fun, they might well be the platform Holly Hipwell needs to achieve her global domination (or should that be bombination?). Eager students get to overcrowd The School's minimalist white rooms with blooms aplenty before eventually plucking and placing their favourites into the pieces de la resistance: the flower bombs. We advise you to embrace the flower power before winter steals those blooms.
