Alongside the swathes of art to experience at the moment, one of the more exciting new events on the Biennale’s line up is the weekly pop-up bar happening down at Pier 2/3.

Each Friday this August, a section of Pier 2/3 transforms into a temporary bar, offering a mix of art and fun, all with a very laidback, warehouse party type vibe.

Large-scale installations make colourful use of the cavernous space, while last time we visited, beanbags were scattered about for patrons to kick back and watch cult classic film Dead Man by cult New York director Jim Jarmusch. A live DJ set's by Naughty Rappers, Sunset People and Jingle Jangle got the crowd moving as bowls of risotto were served up at the Distillery Bar by Asahi. All the while there was some nail pimping going on, with complimentary manicures by the people at N.P.A.A. But the best part is that no two Friday nights will be the same, with every Biennale bash taking in a different line-up and experience.

The huge space has been divided organically, so that you can take in art, music and film and still find quiet spaces to relax and converse – a perfect way to wind up the week and tap into the Biennale.

The Biennale Bar is on Friday August 24 and Friday Auguest 31 at Pier 2/3, Walsh Bay from 6.30pm to 9.30pm. Entry is free.
