Draw back the curtains and cue the lights, Suncorp and Sydney Theatre Company have just unveiled a new partnership that’s bound to reduce theatre enthusiasts to squeals of delight.
The Suncorp Twenties partnership will allow patrons to enjoy a selection of tickets for just $20 for every Sydney Theatre Company performance throughout 2013 (excluding opening nights and the already sold-out Machinal) and beyond. Running for two years, it’s the first comprehensive, year-round cheap ticket scheme for Sydney Theatre Company, a long-time dream come true for STC’s co-artistic directors Andrew Upton and Cate Blanchett, who commented: “[With] a corporate partner to help make cheap tickets available on a permanent basis…more people will have a chance to give theatre a go.”
With cheap and affordable tickets readily available, theatre will now be accessible to new audiences who may not have been exposed to theatre before. And with no extra charge for transactions, we think that’s a pretty sweet deal. Sold in lots of two tickets per transaction, these $20 tickets will be on sale by telephone and over the counter every Tuesday at 9am for the following week’s performances.
There’s no better way to retreat from the colder months than with some fodder for the mind and soul. Choose from an assortment of Australian-produced plays including the highly anticipated The Maids with Blanchett, Isabelle Huppert and Elizabeth Debicki, Waiting For Godot starring Richard Roxburgh and Hugo Weaving and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead with Tim Minchin, Toby Schmitz and Ewen Leslie.
Suncorp Twenties' first release of tickets for STC’s Fury by Joanna Murray-Smith are now available for sale.
