EMF Health Club in Quay Quarter Tower is raising the bar on health and wellness in the CBD. It’s hoping to move away from the rigidity of conventional gyms, offering top-of-the-line training equipment and classes, rounded out with a big focus on wellness and recovery.
“We’re on a mission to create a community and encourage members to embrace trying new things on their fitness journey,” EMF director Leigh Wetton tells Broadsheet.
Spanning 750 square metres, the health club is one of the biggest in Sydney CBD. Divided into two sections, it offers dedicated spaces for functional training and Pilates (memberships include unlimited reformer classes), alongside a well-equipped weights and strength wing, and a post-workout area with a sauna, massage chairs and recovery guns. For those looking to get their cold-plunge fix, EMF moves away from submersion techniques and encourages members to take a trip to the snow room. Set at a frosty –5 to –15 degrees Celsius, with a snow machine to maintain the temperature, the room – decorated with logs and snow-dusted trees – is a scene straight out of Frozen.

SIGN UPThe gym also boasts equipment from renowned German brand Gym 80, and state-of-the-art Technogym cardio machines, which record and track members’ data across sessions.
A big focus for EMF is catering to the surrounding corporate community. Group classes start at 6am and are available throughout the day, working to the varied schedules of members. Afternoon sessions run for about 40 minutes, giving members time to work out and reset before heading back to the office.
“Promoting a good work-life balance is a big part of what we’re doing at EMF. We’ve taken a great amount of care with our design – from designer bathroom fit-outs, Dyson accessories, in-house dry cleaning and towel services, we want to make workouts effective and enjoyable for all members,” says Wetton. “Our trainers can tailor classes and workouts to ensure that you reach your goals, and have fun on the way there.”
