Mother of two Danielle Nicks was seven months pregnant when she had the idea for Holixir, a new all-in-one women’s wellness space. Tired of trekking to appointments spread out across town she wondered, couldn’t this all be managed better under one roof?

Enter Holixir, a sanctuary for women in the Northern Beaches suburb of Balgowlah that provides allied health and holistic services all in the one space. The multi-level building has consultant rooms for massage, fertility specialists, 4D-ultrasound, counsellors, doulas and midwives. But there are also studios where women of all ages can do Pilates, yoga, and barre classes – plus, an all-important infant and toddlers’ creche. Once its full range of services is launched next year, there’ll also be acupuncture, dieticians, naturopaths and Chinese medicine.

“So many women are unaware of what incredible therapies, modalities and integrative practitioners are out there that can literally change their life, heal, repair or even put them on a new path of self-discovery,” says Nicks. “It is my mission to educate, empower and encourage them through Holixir.”

Dispel any Nine Perfect Strangers imagery that may come to mind; the space is a sanctuary for women seeking support. Construction management firm Building Guild helped craft the project alongside Brisbane designer Collectivus. The converted warehouse was transformed with muted tones, natural elements, rattan furniture, crisp white walls and lush greenery to create a welcoming and calm environment.

“The concept was to build a space that was bespoke and calm to enable individuals to relax, reset and connect,” says Annabelle Gordon, communications manager at Building Guild. “It’s a space where you can be worry-free. You know your kids are going to be looked after but you also know you are going into the hands of people who want to look after you.”
