Housed in the Edwardian Department of Education building in Sydney’s heritage Sandstone Precinct, Capella Sydney is a 192-room luxury hotel featuring standalone tubs and French linen in all of its walnut-and natural stone-trimmed guest rooms and suites.
The ground floor features three restaurants with bars, open to hotel guests and the public. At Flagship diner Brasserie 1930, veteran restaurateurs Brent Savage and Nick Hildebrandt (the team behind Sydney institutions Bentley and Monopole) put a modern-Australian spin on classic brasserie dishes.
In-house guests can enjoy treatments at Auriga Spa or swim in the 20-metre heated indoor pool, before heading down to private ground-floor retreat the Living Room – which also hosts the hotel’s culture and experience programs. These include a two-hour walking tour from the hotel to through the laneways of The Rocks, with fascinating and sometimes grim stories about the history of the education building and the Sandstone Precinct.
In addition to Sydney, Capella has six high-end hotels and resorts in Asia. Its properties in Bangkok, Shanghai, Ubud, Hanoi, Hanain and Singapore are known for their architecture and design, carefully considered dining offerings and deluxe day spas.
