Paramount House Hotel

Paramount House Hotel ranks among Sydney's most stylish boutique accommodations. Set opposite the historic Griffiths Tea building on the edge of Surry Hills, the hotel mixes heritage details with contemporary ones. It also comprises two separate buildings – the former offices of Paramount Picture Studios and its film-storage warehouse – joined together by a shimmering copper-clad roof.

Five room styles, designed by Melbourne’s Breathe Architecture, have their own personality and layout. The most generous are the “Mack Daddy” suites – but you’ll find alternatives with New York-style lofts, enclosed balconies and Japanese-style timber baths.

All 29 rooms are equipped with Aesop toiletries, mini-bar snacks by LP's Quality Meats and wines by leading natural makers. Bed linens are by Melbourne-based brand Cultiver, and linen bathrobes are emblazoned with the words “House” in bright-pink capital letters.

One of the best things about staying here is that you get to make the most of the building’s other tenants, including Paramount Coffee Project, Golden Age Cinema and Bar, and AP Bakery. You’ll also receive priority booking at Poly – but if you don’t feel like venturing downstairs, the restaurant also provides exclusive room service.

Paramount House is the culmination of a long-running restoration project by Russell Beard, Ping Jin Ng and Mark Dundon, who’s other ventures include Reuben Hills, the aforementioned Paramount Coffee Project, and pioneering Melbourne roastery Seven Seeds.
