First launched in 2018, Lilypad is a luxury floating villa set in the waters off Sydney’s Palm Beach. Following a fire in September 2020, owner Chuck Anderson took the opportunity to upgrade and revitalise the offering with a new design and sustainable features.

While its predecessor resembled a Scandinavian boathouse, the current iteration leans into a Spanish and Mediterranean aesthetic, with earthy tones and natural finishes. A tadelakt-style lime plaster render features throughout. The opportunity to make better use of the space also meant room for a sauna (Anderson believes it’s the only solar-powered floating sauna in the world).

The pad sleeps two and accommodation includes meals, champagne on arrival and transfers to and from the villa. High-end features include an onboard wine cellar (with Veuve Clicquot, Glenmorangie whisky, and a range of wines), lunch and dinner prepared by an off-site chef, breakfast from The Boathouse and a private boat to explore Pittwater.

Lilypad is also stocked with stand-up paddle boards and fishing rods, so you can make the most of the surrounding waters before snuggling up after dark in front of the open fireplace. There’s also wi-fi and Netflix. For an extra fee you can enjoy an onboard massage and transfers via Sydney Seaplanes. If you’re staying for several nights, there’s a daily housekeeping service and afternoon tasting plates delivered directly to the villa.
