Is there a greater symbol of Australia than Uluru? Of its ancient cultures and distinctive inner geography? You’ll have seen countless pictures throughout your lifetime, but visiting the traditional lands of the Anangu people to experience the sacred 348-metre-high monolith in person is a privilege and a profound pleasure. The same goes for Kata Tjuta (the Olgas), the cluster of bulbous rock formations 25 kilometres to the west.

All accommodation is just outside Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, serviced by a small airport. If budget isn’t a consideration, book Longitude 131, one of Australia’s most high-end camps, consisting of 15 luxury tents with ensuites, private balconies and views of Uluru itself – from every bed.

The price is all-inclusive, covering breakfasts, lunches, four-course dinners and drinks at two separate bars. Your room price also gives you credits towards local tours and the on-site spa. This is truly one of Australia’s finest destination stays, and the most memorable way to experience the icon that is Uluru.
