West End Deli
Part cafe and bakery, part restaurant, West End Deli’s diverse food offering reflects the personal journey of chef Justin Peters (ex-chef at Duende and Il Lido), who established the venue with wife Christine Peters in 2008.
Every morning there are baguettes to take away, as well as a small but perfectly cooked selection of pastries. The venue hosts the coffee-and-cake crowd by day and offers more substantial dishes for brunch.
The menu covers a lot of ground, from eggs with mushroom terrine and blue cheese butter, to a slow-cooked pork sandwich with pear relish and fennel, which redefines the humble sandwich as something magnificent.
At night the space switches to sophisticated dining without missing a beat. There’s a short, rotating selection of European-inspired dishes such as snapper with scallops, smoked potato and brussels sprouts; and veal with pomme dauphin, candied olives and veal reduction.
The small wine list favours West Australian and Victorian boutique wineries, with some European options. And the best bit? All wines (except the Champagne) are available by the glass.
