Golden West Brewing Co

Golden West Brewing Co is the story of a group of friends who turned a weekend hobby into a neighbourly brewpub, crafting beers that are enjoyed right across WA. Today it serves up accessible, easy-drinking beers and South- and Southeast Asian-inspired meals at its family-friendly brewpub.

Expect classic and familiar beers across 10 house taps, all of which are brewed on-site. That includes a hazy mid-strength, a bestselling lager, a west coast IPA, an India pale ale and an award-winning porter. Enjoy them by the pint, tasting paddle or in tinnies to go. Limited release and guest beers feature too, and add to the list of reasons to swing by. Plus, for non-beer drinkers, there’s Custard & Co ginger beer, Roleystone Brewing Co cider, cocktails and wine.

Golden West takes its food seriously, too. You might go for crowd favourites such as roasted turmeric cauliflower chaat, or Kerala fried chicken strips with buttermilk ranch and green chutney. A heartier main might be spiced lamb and veal keema with hummus and house-made flatbread. Any of these pair well with a pint in the industrial-inspired dining room. Or quickly disappear on a table filled with mates in the beer garden.

The brewery proudly resurrects a much older company, Golden West Aerated Water Company, which started making soft drinks in a Leederville warehouse in 1896. It was eventually purchased by Coca-Cola in the 1960s and renamed Gest, and later became Kirk’s. Golden West proudly bears the original logo today and pours a refreshing pale ale named after GWAW’s trademark lemonade: the Kwencher. Any beer sampled here is sure to continue that legacy.
