Features
Store Mt Lawley is in the small arcade between Beaufort and Walcott streets. The quirky vibe hits you as soon as you walk in. There’s the scent of cocoa, vanilla and cassia candles; and bright-coloured bunting, homewares and clothing.
Owner Kym Rowlands keeps the store full of bath gels; luxurious Smith & Co. hand creams from New Zealand; handmade jewellery from Australian designers; illustrated cards; women's clothing from Metalicus and Lazybones; and Australian-made Louenhide handbags.
In the children’s section you’ll find wooden Spanish toys, the traditional card game of old maid, and for a hit of nostalgia, Pick Up Sticks. There’s also beautiful baby clothing by Lolamoolu and other Australian designers. A small selection of kids’ books is hidden in a wooden nook. The colourful toys knitted by women in Bangladesh are fair trade and make for a gift in both countries.
