It’s hard to walk past Remedy without being drawn in by its beautiful window display and the smell of essential oils. From aromatic skincare to hand-crafted ceramic bowls, the shop carries a unique range of hand-crafted goods made by Australian artists and designers.

Owners Melanie Clark and Joe Ottone threw in their corporate jobs to open a shop they hoped would help promote the makers and designers of Perth. Since 2001 it has supported many a local creative to broaden their network across Western Australia.

People looking for a unique gift for a friend or something to brighten their home will be happy to forage among Remedy’s beautiful selection of Armadillo floor rugs, handcrafted wooden bowls and ceramic vases.For something for the body, jewellery by Western Australia’s own Emily Green (now Melbourne-based), Erin Lightfoot and Abby Seymour can be found in ceramic, silver wood and crystal.

Clark and Ottone’s partnership with local artists extends to their footpath gallery. At different times of the year its has creatives such as Stormie Mills and Fleur Schell transform the store window in whichever way they please.
