Empire Homewares is synonymous with on-trend, modern decor. The Claremont warehouse is no exception. Featuring a cafe and a nursery of sorts, the youngest arm of the Empire empire acts as a one-stop shop for all your living needs.

Owners Jill and Perry Coleman are behind the well-known chain, but daughter Elissa Coleman runs this show. Her “big girl” on Leura Avenue is now the concept store for the business and is the largest of the six locations.

Being an old building (previously Bunnings) it underwent a six-month revamp to maximise the natural light and size, including a new roof and floors. It’s now the perfect canvas for the furniture range, and the space has allowed the Colemans to further expand into children’s homewares, bathroom accessories and greenery. You can even pick up some DIY tools, such as Bauwerk paint, to help transform your home.

The Empire Cafe makes for a great midweek meeting spot. The coffee is decent and there are sweet treats to tide you over while you make interior-related decisions.
