Menu

In 2023, French bistro Mistelle swapped the picturesque vineyards of the Bickley Valley for the leafy streets of Shenton Park. Here, Benoit Lasplace prepares dishes inspired by his upbringing in the south-west of France. The food offering includes a lunch and dinner à la carte menu, a set menu for groups, plus the bistro’s ever-popular weekly test kitchen menu.

Mistelle’s à la carte options include two or three courses. Staples like confit duck leg and desserts like crème brûlée stay year-round, with new dishes rotated in seasonally. The seasonal menu has featured Abrolhos Island octopus, Rottnest swordfish with heirloom pumpkin and pan-seared gnocchi with shimeji mushrooms. It also offers a bar menu for people wanting to drop in, soak up the atmosphere and sample some handmade charcuterie with a few wines.

Mistelle seats up to 46 diners and features some theatrical service, with waitstaff carving rib eye off the bone, and preparing crepes suzette or steak tartare tableside. Drinks-wise, expect a tight wine list with fun, fresh Australian numbers and some classic French varietals.

Lasplace cut his teeth in fine dining establishments in Canada and the UK (including the Michelin-starred L’Ortolen in Reading) and opened for Neil Perry at Rockpool Perth in 2011 as the restaurant’s first sommelier. He later moved on to Print Hall Dining Room, and eventually turned to his own culinary pursuits alongside his wife, Chantelle Lasplace – who looks after the back of house at Mistelle.
