Noise Pollution Records

11:00am - 6:00pm
55 Aberdeen Street Northbridge 6003

Noise Pollution got its name because owner Maurice Flavel is a self-confessed collector of woefully bad records. But there’s plenty in the store’s 6000-strong secondhand collection that won’t bust your eardrums. Case in point: a full Bob Dylan collection, stacks of original Joy Division and rare finds such as the soundtrack to cult ‘80s film, Liquid Sky.

Flavel – the gravelly-voiced frontman of band Intensive Care, and formerly of Gutterville Splendour Six – is a bit of a record obsessive, after all. In the ‘80s, he worked for Mushroom Records, and owned another two record stores in Perth after that, including Blowfly Records, named for the original dirty rapper.

Although most of the vinyl is secondhand there are a number of new records, as well as cassettes, turntables, and band tees printed with the latest designs. Think rare Pink Floyd, Nirvana and The Stone Roses, plus the Breaking Bad chickens (yeah, you know the ones.) Look out for records from local legends, such as Perth acts Louis and the Honkeytonk, Smrts, The Triffids and The Drones.
