Frisk Small Bar
The old wives’ tale says gin makes you sad. Frisk is proof that it doesn’t, and the bar has around 200 bottles in its arsenal to back up its argument. While many of these are best enjoyed straight up or with a splash of tonic, there’s a tight selection of gin cocktails that vary from fruity to herbaceous.
When the venue opened in 2011 there was a conscious decision not to spend lots of money on decor. Instead funds were diverted to more important matters – booze and quality ice.
The result is a space with a DIY feel. Much of the interior is constructed from recycled materials, such as the front bar made from old doors. The artwork on the walls is by customers and the bathroom hall and doors are decorated with the pages of comic books.
Besides lots and lots of gin, there’s a 30-strong selection of whisky, plus wine, beer and a couple of ciders.
