Dominion League
The Dominion League is named after a group that campaigned for the succession of WA from the Commonwealth in the 1930s.
This fact is proudly saluted throughout the bar with hung campaign posters, “Swannie” the black swan on the bar and coasters that read, “We Shall Be Free”. In the spirit of democracy, the next drop on the rotating beer tap is decided by customer votes.
The food menu is split into share plates and bar food. Though it’s relatively short, it changes daily. You could come every day and never get bored, though the pork-and-cider pie with red cabbage slaw is a signature dish made with local cider from Custard & Co. Like the rest of the food, it’s available until a very convenient 11pm.
The basement bar is a haven for whisky, reflecting the managers’ shared love for the spirit. Priced to be accessible, the hideaway hopes to share whisky adoration with anyone and everyone. Every Thursday is whisky and darts night. Once a month this night includes a ticketed masterclass session, with tastings accompanied by nibbles from the kitchen.
Rounding out the strong beer and spirit offering is the quirky and accessible wine list, available on request. Wine and brandy are also available to takeaway.
