What’s better than a fromagerie? A licensed fromagerie. The owners of Powells Fromagerie & Wine Bar, mother-daughter duo Marisa and Jasmine Powell, have built a venue that offers an intimate dining experience and thoughtful cheese and wine pairings.
The cheesemonger’s choice cheese plate features a selection of the day’s choice cheeses, alongside select accompaniments. Do yourself a favour and add on a plate of freshly sliced San Daniele prosciutto, salumi or mortadella from Mondo Doro to round out your platter. The bruschetta with La Delizia Latticini stracciatella is also a standout.
The venue also offers a short rotating list of wine chosen to complement the food menu. There’s a solid offering of Australian producers, from Western Australia’s Mon Tout to Victoria’s Konpira Maru and South Australia’s Cirillo Estate. If you’re pushing the boat out, you might go for bottles of Laurent-Perrier’s iconic champagne and cru bourgeois from Burgundy.
The Powells team aims to be a place for diners to connect and engage in meaningful conversation – check out the conversation-starters on the back of their signature coasters.
