Lincolns 102
Lincolns 102 serves up all-day breakfast and coffee in a cosy corner-shop setting. Get your home-baked fix here, with a breakfast tart of egg, bacon and tomato, and a range of classic sweets, including carrot cake, caramel slice and a Turkish-inspired orange cake.
One half of the couple behind the cafe is Turkish, and her authentic baklava is a popular treat. She chucked in a career as a lawyer in Turkey to train as a chef, and now happily bakes and works the coffee machine at Lincolns 102.
There’s a homespun charm about the cafe, with nostalgic music playing and Turkish teapots and colourful cups dotted about. The building was one of Highgate’s original corner shops, established in 1897.
The all-day breakfast menu includes sweet crepes with banana, berries, maple syrup and pistachio cream, or savoury crepes with mushrooms, feta, greens and egg. There’s also classic eggs benedict or bircher muesli with berries.
As well as coffee, the drinks menu includes traditional milkshakes in such flavours as caramel, hazelnut or strawberry, and loose-leaf teas. If flavoured coffee is your thing, the Monin syrups (used for the milkshakes) work a treat to pep up your cappuccino.
