Sugar Artist is a specialty Filipino bakery stall inside Freo Markets, dedicated to reimagining the classic ensaymada: a soft, cheesy milk bun popular in the Philippines.

Founder Rom Ursua, who grew up in a family-run karinderya (canteen) in Davao before moving to Harvey, draws on his Filipino background and international baking experience in Japan, Thailand and Malaysia to craft these nostalgic treats.

Here, you'll find playful spins on the classic ensaymada – usually eaten with margarine and sugar – with flavours like ube halaya, cookies and cream, and red velvet. Each bun can be individually wrapped and boxed, making them perfect for gifting.
