First the bad news. Mary Street Bakery’s third outlet, a kiosk scheduled to open tomorrow in the foyer of QV1, has had its launch postponed to Monday.

The good news, however, is that you’ll still be able to get your Mary Street Bakery fix in the CBD from tomorrow. The really, really good news? Mary Street owners Paul Aron and Michael Forde are giving away free doughnuts and pastries to make amends for the delay.

“You can’t put a shipping container in the middle of the city without a few dramas,” says Aron. “We can’t open till we get a few things signed off, that’s all. These sorts of things happen when opening venues. It’s just a small delay.”

As far as apologies go, it’s not a bad way to keep customers onside: we’ll see you in line at QV1 for a (gratis!) taste of what to expect.

Mary Street Bakery QV1 opens on Monday September 5 and will open from 6:30am to 3pm, Monday to Friday. Between Wednesday August 31 and Friday September 2, Mary Street Bakery will be giving away free doughnuts and pastries from 12pm in the QV1 foyer. Limit of one item per person.
