There’s never been a better time to get food delivered in Perth. Following the recent arrival of Deliveroo, Uber’s food delivery service, UberEATS, launches today with users able to order food from 75 local restaurants.
Among the restaurants and venues to have signed up with the service: Long Chim, David Thompson’s vibrant homage to Thai street food, Mexican cantina El Publico and cult gelataria, Chicho Gelato. DJ Lee, owner of Le Vietnam, is one of the operators offering opening specials to celebrate the launch. Broadsheet readers ordering from Le Vietnam can choose from a free banh pate so (a Vietnamese-French pork puff pastry) or chilled coconut drink to go with their banh mi order. Requests must be made in the comments section and this offer is only available today.
“We’re super excited to be partnering with the most popular restaurants in Perth to bring local residents their favourite food whenever, and wherever they want,” says Tom White, general manager of Uber Western Australia. “Now the menus of over 60 top restaurants are just a few taps away.”
Initially, the service will be available to Perth’s inner suburbs (“From Nedlands to Inglewood, Subiaco East Perth and everywhere in between”) from 10am to 10pm every day.
