Lukumades, a Melbourne store specialising in Greek loukoumades doughnuts, will open its first Perth store this month.
Although loukoumades are traditionally served with honey syrup and walnuts, the versions served at Lukumades are a little more cosmopolitan. The Oreo Balls, for instance, are covered in white chocolate, crushed Oreos and cookies and cream gelato, while the Matcha Chocolate Balls are covered in matcha-infused white chocolate and dusted in matcha powder. According to founder Exarhos Sourligas, the dough recipe for his doughnuts took two years to develop and the mix itself is vegan.
Following the lead of the West Melbourne Lukumades store, the Perth Lukumades will also serve a coffee blend created by Sydney-based William De Nass roasters.
Lukumades opens on Tuesday April 9 at 79 Rokeby Road, Subiaco and will open daily.
