The ice-cream at South Fremantle’s Roho Bure might be vegan, organic, cane-sugar-free and gluten-free, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t delicious. Come this weekend, Roho Bure fans will have a more central address to get their vegan dessert fix.
Owner Georgina Terrana opened the original Roho Bure in 2017 and was surprised to discover customers were travelling from all over Perth to try her fresh-made vegan ice-cream and desserts.
“The support from our customers has been phenomenal,” says Terrana “There’s no shortage of gratitude for the alternatives we offer. Due to either lifestyle choices or diet restrictions, many customers are experiencing ice-cream for the first time. It’s incredible to be a part of those memories.”
The new store on Carr Street will serve the same core flavours as the South Fremantle store and all the products will be made in house. The ice-cream is based primarily on organic coconut-based products including powders, oils and sugars. Popular flavours include cashew-cream honeycomb, hazelnut chocolate and matcha mint choc-chip. The menu also includes raw slices, cookie ice-cream sandwiches, sundaes and ice-cream cakes.
“Our cookie ice-cream sandwiches have been a bestseller from the moment we put them on the menu,” says Terrana. “Leederville will offer a larger range of cookies and will also house our shop for ice-cream cakes.”
The Leederville store will also serve a fortnightly flavour special and is looking forward to collaborations with local businesses. (Terrana is working with organic bakery Abhi’s Bread for the current collaboration, which will be exclusive to the South Fremantle Roho Bure store).
