The newest addition to North Freo’s bustling Queen Victoria Street is a cafe with an attached boutique – or maybe it’s vice versa? However you frame it, the combination of Ooh La La and Ooh Coffee is a win-win for everyone.
“What better way to wait for your coffee then to have a browse through the racks?” says co-owner Jessica Quartermaine.
Hanging on said racks is an assortment of colours, prints and shapes from international brands Rachel Comey, Caron Callahan and Creatures of Comfort, while accessories from Natalie Marie Jewellery and Garrett Leight eyewear are also on hand. Why open a boutique in North Fremantle? As is often the case with those in the fashion industry, necessity can be a powerful motivator.
“Ooh La La was born out of love for fashion and the frustration of the lack of diversity among labels offered in Perth,” says Quartermaine. “We have a curated collection of wearable items that are on-trend but will become wardrobe staples in time.”
In addition to overseeing all things couture, Quartermaine is also involved with Ooh Coffee, a petite espresso bar she owns along with her partner Lajos Varga and Ryan Murphy.
Proud Mary and Five Senses supply the coffee and the menu features the likes of double-cheese toasties and Mary Street Bakery doughnuts: snacks suited to enjoyment in the dedicated seating area or eating on the run.
