The light, airy interior of Margaret River’s newest grocery destination is an oasis for shoppers and diners who care about sustainably sourced food. The health-food hideaway, which opened in late 2023, is offering a trifecta: groceries, takeaway meals and freshly brewed coffee. In a statement, owner Clair van Veen says the store provides for an environmentally and health-conscious community that previously had “no holistic food destination where you could reliably get a yummy, healthy and affordable lunch and pick up groceries that aligned with those values”.

Van Veen says she set out to “create a shopping experience that was convenient and chilled out – no claustrophobic aisles or fluorescent lights”. The free-flowing layout houses responsibly made Australian products, from Naked Byron pesto and pasta from sourdough savants Berkelo , to bulk goods and snacks for your pantry.

There’s also a range of eco-conscious cleaning, beauty and bath products, including skincare by Gracious Minds and The Base Collective; cleaning supplies from Eco Store; and Who Gives a Crap toilet paper.

There’s also a food counter for a fresh feed. Brekkie classics include avo toast and gluten-free banana bread, while for lunch you can get buddha bowls, sandwiches on turmeric bread by local bakery Il Pane di Arturo, and sushi and rice paper rolls from Peko Peko. Coupled with a coffee or a turmeric latte, you can take your groceries and your meal to go, or sit a while at the shady tables out front.
