Since its launch in Australia eight months ago, Too Good To Go has helped save 325,000 meals, with over half a million users taking to the app to save surplus food from ending up in the local skip.
The concept is simple: download the app, find businesses near you offering “Surprise Bags” filled with surplus food at a reduced price, pay using the app and pick up your goods in-store.
In Perth, you’ll find food from cafes, bakeries and restaurants including Crumbs Patisserie and Adore Bakery alongside national chains like Sushi Sushi and Roll’d.
In a statement, the app’s country director for Australia Joost Rietveld says: “We’re thrilled to bring Too Good To Go to Western Australia, a state known for its incredible food scene and strong community values. … Our mission is to inspire everyone to fight food waste together, and the response across Australia has been incredible, with over half a million people already joining the movement. By launching in Perth, we’re taking another step toward our goal of helping halve Australia’s food waste by 2030.”
