Now in its third year, Cabin Fever has established itself as one of Western Australia’s premier food and wine festivals. At its core, the festival is about bringing people from around the state to Margaret River during what are traditionally the region’s quieter winter months. The program is a showcase of the region’s best and its collaborations are among its highlights, pairing some of the country’s best chefs are restaurants together for special, one-off events.

Cabin Fever is just over a month away and tickets are still available. Here are Broadsheet’s picks for 2019’s hottest tickets.

Arimia x Fervor Pop-Up Restaurant
Expect big things when Evan Hayter – chef at Wilyabrup’s sustainably-minded cellar door restaurant Arimia – and Paul “Yoda” Iskov of Fervor join forces for a series of intimate pop-up dinners at Golden Cafe. Expect six courses featuring organic and native ingredients with matching beverages.
Sunday 21, Monday 22, Wednesday 24, Thursday 25 and Sunday 28 July at Golden Cafe. Tickets $145.

The Sunday Roast
For a different kind of dining experience, head to Cheeky Monkey for an afternoon of roast, beer and comedy. Host Tor Snyder will be joined by comedians Mickey J, Craig Quartermaine and Triple J Raw Comedy state finalist Alissia Marsh in a mutual roasting battle.
Sunday July 21 at Cheeky Monkey Brewery & Cidery. Tickets $40.

Smoke and Fire
The restaurant at Wise Wines has one of the best views in the region, and this event promises to be an afternoon to remember. Enjoy five courses of barbeque from the smoker and charcoal grill, get a crash course in smoking, and – of course – enjoy the scenery.
Friday July 26 at Wise Wines. Tickets $80.

Game On – Oakridge vs Yarri
These six-course degustation dinners designed by Yarri’s Aaron Carr and Oakridge Estate head chef and former Margaret River local Matt Stone (ex-Greenhouse) will no doubt be a highlight of the festival. The menu will focus on game meats, from kangaroo and emu to quail, duck and venison. Not one for the vegetarians.
Friday 26 and Sunday 28 July at Yarri. Tickets $170.

Rise and Dine
What better way to recover from a boozy night than with a boozy breakfast? The fire at Xanadu’s handsome restaurant will be lit for this degustation brunch, and the matching wines will help fast-track your recovery. (A booze-free option is also available for designated drivers).
Sunday July 28 at Xanadu Winery. Tickets from $65.

Cabin Fever runs July 19 to 28 throughout Margaret River. Tickets are available online.
