Whether you’re a teetotaller all year round, dabbling with sobriety or just a sucker for a well-balanced bevvy, plenty of non-alcoholic drinks are produced right here in WA. Gone are the days of non-drinkers being relegated to juices and soft drinks. With non-alcoholic beers that boast the same flavour we know so well and alcohol-free “spirits” to drink straight or in a creative mocktail, it’s never been easier to stay sober.
Here – in alphabetical order – are four WA-made drops to pick up.
Barnes and Brown
Born in 2023, this WA-based distillery offers a range of non-alcoholic spirits that taste just as complex as the hard stuff. Barnes and Brown has a six-strong range: Southern Belle Bourbon, Señorita Bianco White Rum, Lady Juniper Gin, Miss Agave Tequila, Lady Marmalade Triple Sec and Countless Cora Vermouth. These zero-ABV spirits are all priced at $42.50.

SUBSCRIBE NOWBig Splash – Shelter
Brewed in Busselton by two fourth-generation Busselton-born families, Shelter’s Big Splash Pale is fresh, zesty, and tropical – and the lack of a hangover the next day is the real cherry on top. For any big sesh, you’re sorted with a 16-pack costing $55.
Ovant
Tom Streitberg loved the ritual of sharing a glass of vino from Margaret River with friends. When he started to think critically about giving up drinking, he knew that ritual was what he’d miss the most. So he started Ovant alongside winemaker Elizabeth Read and former sommelier at Michelin-starred Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester, Christopher Bothwell.
Ovant makes three non-alcoholic spirits which each ring in at $49.95: Grace (a refreshingly bitter blend of classic gin botanicals), Verve (a modern aperitif with herbal notes and spice) and Royal (a dark spirit with the smokiness of whisky and the sweetness of rum).
Yeah Buoy – Gage Roads
For beer lovers, Gage Roads needs no introduction. Since launching in 2004, the Fremantle-based label has strong WA DNA. It has beer lovers covered with Yeah Buoy, a non-alcoholic XPA. Big on flavour with a fruit-filled aroma of papaya, peach and apricot, it’s medium bodied and brewed in Palmyra. A six-pack will set you back around $15.
