Canteen is lighting its wood-burning oven on the mornings of Monday August 19 and Tuesday August 20 as its parent company closes for system upgrades.
On the days, Canteen will serve three breakfast pizzas. The first two – smoked salmon, avocado and crème fraiche; and pancetta, egg and parsley – riff on popular AM combinations. The third – a combination of confit duck, chilli maple syrup, pancetta and rosemary – is based on Il Lido’s famous duck waffles.
In addition to breakfast pizzas, Canteen will also serve some of the mothership’s more traditional breakfast items. These include bircher muesli, amaranth grain porridge, bacon and eggs, plus Il Lido’s cauliflower, corn and zucchini fritters.
Never one to miss an opportunity to play food and booze matching games, restaurant manager Mark Rutter will be devising breakfast pizza and sparkling wine matches. The rest of Canteen's tight edit of pizza-friendly vino will also be available, as will plenty of coffee.
Canteen Pizza will open for breakfast from 7am to 11:30am on Monday August 19 and Tuesday August 20.
