Paint the town Yello
Yello Festival is on again at State Buildings until October 17. The sensory, spring-inspired festival brings together music, art and the many flavours of State Buildings’ restaurants and bars. Expect a seafood dinner at Bar 1875; an afternoon at Wildflower with acclaimed soprano Sara Macliver; an Italian four-course feast at Post; and a “Koh Samui Beach Party” with Thai street food and Pina Coladas in the Long Chim courtyard. Make your own gin
Coastal restaurant Odyssea is teaming up with Freo bar and distillery Republic of Fremantle for a gin-blending masterclass on October 16 and 23. Guests will learn about botanical blending from the experts and create a personalised 500ml bottle of gin to take home, all while sipping on Odyssea’s signature cocktails, such as the kaffir-lime blue Gin and Tonic. Beachside markets
Clarko Reserve in Trigg will be transformed into Summer X Salt Markets on Saturday October 23. The beachside park will host 12 sets of markets until March 19, 2022, with a Christmas edition on December 11. The family-friendly market, which won WA’s Best Small Event 2020 at the Australian Event Awards, brings together more than 200 community- and sustainably minded businesses – expect local designers, food trucks and live music, plus outdoor yoga, pilates and meditation classes. Wine time
Unwind Subiaco is bringing over 200 wines from more than 30 WA wineries to Subiaco's Market Square Park on October 23 and October 24. There’ll be live music, wine, beer and gin tastings, plus snacks by Gnocchi Boys and Great Southern Truffles, and baos and dumplings from Mild Bite Food Truck. Vasse Felix at Kitsch
Margaret River winery Vasse Felix is heading to Oxford Street for an evening at Kitsch on Thursday October 14. The four-course long-table dinner will feature a selection of Asian-inspired spicy and sweet dishes by chef Misato Hirai – paired with Vasse Felix's new-release wines. The winery team will be on hand throughout the night to talk through each drop. Tickets are $120 per person and available here.
