Farewell the Humble Onion
The Humble Onion’s Chris Howard and Caitlin Johnston have called it a day on their St Georges Terrace cafe. The last day of service will be Thursday December 23, with hot chicken sandos rolling out all day, plus Margaritas on the rooftop, and a collaboration banh mi from Le Vietnam Cafe available from 5pm. Join the team and raise a glass to their short but mighty run.

A natural-wine party
Start 2022 with Perth’s largest natural-wine tasting even on Saturday February 12. Second Nature: A Summer Tasting by Wines Of While, brings together over 25 winemakers, importers and distributors from all over Australia to Perth City Farm. Expect more than 100 natural wines, including pet-nats, rosés and oranges. The Wines of While kitchen will be serving up grilled merguez (Maghrebi sausage) and rillette sandwiches while the crew from Madalenas Bar will be running a raw seafood bar with oysters and crudo, and Ma Kin Thai will be turning out Thai wings, som tum and satay. The event kicks off at 3pm and there’ll be DJs and dancing, too. Tickets here.

A fiesta at Indigo Oscar
Cottesloe’s Latin American-inspired pop-up restaurant Indigo Oscar is hosting a two-day fiesta – Ceviche Y Cerveza – on January 1 and January 2 with flowing sangria, beer and a tropical feast by culinary manager Tom Hayes. Dishes include fried-pork-belly tacos with pickled cabbage and pineapple. And charred corn with chilli-mayo and feta. Tickets are $185 per person.

High noon tipple
Claremont cafe High Noon Saloon will be serving Middle Eastern cuisine from Yalla Bala, plus the latest wine releases from Local Weirdos, on Saturday December 18. From 12pm to 3pm there’ll be a limited number of traditional chicken shawarma and a spiced mushroom option plus a spicy pickle medley. All pitas come with hummus, zhug, diced cucumbers and tomatoes, dill pickles, lightly pickled sumac onions, tahini sauce and amba (fenugreek and mango) sauce. Local Weirdos will be pouring their V21 releases, which will be available to taste and purchase by the glass throughout the afternoon.

Spring into Subi Spritz
From March 31 to April 3, Subiaco will transform into a southern European getaway with pasta cooking classes, lavish long lunches, Spanish film nights and more for inaugural event Subi Spritz, paying homage to the diverse influences that have shaped the area’s dining scene. Locals and visitors can enjoy conti rolls, a prosecco picnic, aperitivo, live music and more, at a mix of free and ticketed events. Book here.
