Class is in session at Caballitos
Knuckle down and brush up on your tequila fundamentals with the experts at Caballitos. On the first Monday of every month, the crew at Andy Freeman’s Queen Street Mexican stronghold host tequila masterclasses discussing the finer points of agave appreciation. Tickets are $45 per person and include tastings of four tequilas and nibbles. The next class is 6pm on Monday July 2. Email the bar for more details.


Chicho Gelato drops a bomba
Colourful Northbridge gelateria Chicho Gelato continues to thrill fans with limited-edition releases. This weekend, sees the return of the Bomba, great news for those that missed its debut last weekend. Inspired by the lemon meringue pie, this bombe Alaska features a cookie base and lemon centre with vanilla bean ice-cream and torched Italian meringue. The Bomba is only available on Saturday June 23 and Sunday June 24 (or until sold out).


Hawker Mondays at The Standard
At the start of each week, Roe Street bar and kitchen The Standard will offer a different Asian-influenced dish for $10. Previous Hawker Mondays specials have included Bottomless Broth laksa and Off the Hock – Linley Valley pork hock with chef Rod’s fried rice and herb salad. Dine the Regions of Italy at Il Lido
Dine the Regions of Italy, Il Lido’s annual celebration of the country’s regional flavours, is back. Until October, the seaside Cottesloe cantina will offer a separate menu of regional specialties each week between Tuesday and Thursday. This week the kitchen is taking inspiration from Valle d’Aosta (June 19–21) in Italy’s northwest before shifting its focus to Piedmont next week (June 26–28). Bookings recommended.
