Sweetwater Goes Vegan
Sweetwater Rooftop Bar is hosting a Vegan Banquet on Tuesday October 9 and giving vegans the chance to enjoy the bar’s fun brand on southeast Asian cooking: think chilli-roasted Brussels sprouts with a shiitake XO sauce, and hor fun noodles with mushrooms, bamboo and roasted peanut dressing. The five-course degustation dinner includes a vegan cocktail on arrival and two glasses of vegan wine throughout the evening, plus dessert. Tickets are $89 per person and are available online.
A Progressive William Street Long Lunch
First there was Tre Amici, now comes the William Street Long Lunch, a five-course, five-venue progressive lunch featuring La Cholita, Shadow Wine Bar, Sauma, No Mafia and Bivouac. Each venue will serve a single course of food plus a matching drink with options ranging from a fish taco at La Cholita, an Aperol Spritz at Shadow Wine Bar and gnocchi at No Mafia. The trail starts on Saturday September 22 and runs for four weekends on September 29, October 6 and October 13. No bookings required: the self-guided tour begins at La Cholita between 12:30pm and 3:30pm - and slowly work your way towards dessert at Bivouac (pay $15 at each venue).
Wine Rooms by Harvey Leigh’s Hosts Winemaker Paul Nelson
Maverick Denmark-based winemaker Paul Nelson of Paul Nelson Wines will be pouring and talking about his new releases at Beaufort Street wine bar, Wine Rooms By Harvey Leigh’s. Nelson will offer commentary as guests taste their way through nine current and future-release wines matched to three plates of farmhouse-inspired cooking from chef Loic Sorbier. Tickets are $65 per person and bookings are essential.
Inviting the Architect to Dinner
It has been a decade since a fire ripped through the original Guildford Hotel, causing extensive damage and the need for a complete restoration. To celebrate the historic venue and its major rebuild, the hotel is hosting Dinner With The Architect on Wednesday October 3. Architect Kylee Schoonens will walk through the hotel and talk guests through the old and new elements of the building. Tickets are $70 per person, which includes canapes and a drink on arrival, followed by dinner. Bookings are essential
