“For legs-dangling-in-swimming-pools times.”
Drinks journalist. Presenter. Winemaker. Co-founder of the now-retired Rootstock natural wine festival. Mike Bennie’s CV is more varied than most. The latest addition to his resume is beer-maker following the release of Foudre 1, a fresh and zesty sour beer. “It’s all about the nervous vitality you can expect from wild-ferment beer,” says Bennie. “It’s got lemony scents, whiffs of nuttiness and grain and some faint spice. It’s mostly about grapefruit-y tang and subtle grain flavours.” Bennie will be at North Fremantle bottle shop Wise Child on Friday October 19, between 6pm and 8pm, pouring the beer as well as his ultra-limited Brian Bitter beer.
