Prepare for shopping mayhem. After years of speculation, major international fashion retailer H&M has announced it will be opening its largest store in WA.

The news comes at a time when many local retailers are struggling with sales. Will H&M’s latest expansion kick-start spending again? If the positive reception to the 2015 opening of H&M’s first WA store in Lakeside Joondalup is anything to go by, the signs are encouraging that outpost number two will draw shoppers back to the city.

So what can we expect when H&M’s second store – a 3800-square-metre, two-storey space at the heritage-listed GPO Building in the CBD – opens? In addition to mens, womens, kids and baby wear, the store will also debut the Swedish retailer’s Plus Size and Home concept ranges. This season’s autumn/winter collection will be the first to land in store, with denim and monochrome pieces featuring throughout the range.

H&M opens at the GPO Building in the Perth CBD on Thursday March 2.
