It’s been three years in the making, and now the first in a series of openings at the newly redeveloped Karrinyup Shopping Centre is going ahead on Thursday July 29. This week’s celebration welcomes a brand new Fresh Market to the centre and over 60 new stores to the ground level of “The Loop”, Karrinyup’s dedicated fashion and lifestyle precinct. The event kicks off with live entertainment by R’n’B artist Adrian Dzvuke and four days of food events, pop-ups, and exclusive in-store offers.
There’ll be tasting menus and cooking demos by 2021 Masterchef winner Justin Narayan and top Perth chefs Jed Gerrard (ex-Hearth, Wildflower), Melissa Palinkas (Young George, Ethos Deli) and Luke Wakefield (Balthazar). (Register for free here.) Plus, DJ sets, a silent disco and a “chocolate refuel station”.
Karrinyup’s new Fresh Market is a village-style marketplace accented with wood finishes and plenty of natural light. It brings big players Coles, Aldi and Woolworths together with The Source Bulk Foods, Sushia, T2, Just for You The Bread House and more. Graze & Tipple, a sleek new bar, restaurant and deli, will also open this week, serving a Mediterranean-inspired menu of pizza, pasta, pastries, conti rolls and cocktails.
Fashion hub The Loop, Ground Level is a response to the growing interest in athleisure and streetwear, and includes retailers such as Rebel, Hype DC, Adidas and Nike. Global giant Zara and Perth’s first Sephora will open in October, joining H&M and Uniqlo to round out a solid fashion and lifestyle offering.
A carefully curated mix of Australian labels including Scanlan Theodore, Aje, Viktoria & Woods, Morrison, Camilla, Sass & Bide, Assembly Label and RM Williams will also join the centre later this year, in what is to be one of WA’s largest collections of Australian designers under one roof.
Upon completion in spring, the $800 million redevelopment will almost double the shopping centre’s size and offering, with approximately 290 retailers. It will also have a piazza, an outdoor community space with a kid’s play area and green open spaces, and 134 residential apartments.
Karrinyup Centre will reopen on Thursday July 29 at 200 Karrinyup Rd, Karrinyup.
