Sydney’s Chez Crix Pops Up at Ah Um

This weekend, Sydney chef Wesley Cooper Jones is heading across the country for a weekend-long pop-up at Ah Um, the new diner from the Astral Weeks team.

Jones’s Sydney venue, bustling French bistro Chez Crix, is tucked above an unassuming neighbourhood pub. He’s bringing his laid-back French-ish fare to Ah Um, the hidden restaurant tucked inside the Astral Weeks listening bar.

On Friday and Saturday night he’s cooking a five-course set menu for $120 a head. The menu begins with some serious shellfish: a scallop with vermouth, and two oysters – one with yuzushu mignonette and another roasted with sake and finger lime. Further courses include beef tartare, tete de fromage (which, horrifyingly, translates to “head cheese” but is a meat terrine) and foie gras parfait. Enjoy a hearty chicken and lobster white sausage before dessert. Bookings are essential.

On Sunday, Jones is moving into the Astral Weeks bar to serve a snack menu which will be available for walk-ins.
