The annual arts festival has dropped a stellar line-up, including ARIA-winner Sampa the Great; Scottish post-rockers Mogwai; and British R’n’B artist Sampha, with support from Grammy-nominated Melbourne musician Nai Palm.

Perth Festival 2024 is back this February, kicking off with a huge show at The Rechabite featuring three up-and-coming rappers – including Perth’s own Pookie, Sydney’s Vv Pete, and Pasifika artist JULAI.

At Heath Ledger Theatre, catch Jungle Book Reimagined – an Akram Khan production that combines dance, music and animation to adapt – and de-sanitise – Rudyard Kipling’s well-known tale from the perspective of a young refugee.

Running from February 23 to 25, the festival’s literary program, Writers Weekend, includes an appearance from Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jane Smiley and a keynote event with singer and memoirist Deborah Conway.

Lotterywest’s outdoor cinema has a jampacked program including Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore’s tour de force May December, lauded French thriller Anatomy of a Fall, and the emotionally charged Monster from Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-eda.

On the music front contemporary hip hop artist Sampa the Great will take to the stage at the Supreme Court Gardens alongside Papua New Guinea born, Melbourne-based artist Kaiit; Scottish post-rock band Mogwai are back in Australia for the first time in six years for back to back shows at the Rechabite Hall; and homegrown troubadour Paul Kelly will play through his 2022 compilation Time.

To close out the festival, avant-R’n’B producer and vocalist Sampha performs with support from Melbourne’s Nai Palm (Hiatus Kaiyote) in a highly anticipated show at the Supreme Court Gardens.
