The Geographe Room at State Library of Western Australia
25 Francis St, PerthInstead of a book, borrow a human being and learn from their experiences at this boundary-pushing free event.
This Fringe World event invites you to “un-judge someone”. Held in the Geographe Room at the State Library, it’s an opportunity to hear stories from volunteers who act as open books to be “loaned out”, inviting people to ask them anything.
The concept was born in Copenhagen in 2000, and the Human Library has held events in 85 countries over the last 25 years. It’s making its WA debut during Fringe World.
The idea is to get to know each other better and put topics usually deemed taboo – religion, race, politics, sexuality, gender, mental health – on the table and in the spotlight. Think of it as a live version of ABC’s You Can’t Ask That.
The program runs for eight days and tickets are free to book.
