Rooftop Movies, Fringe World’s pop-up outdoor cinema atop Northbridge’s Roe Street parking lot, is back for another summer. The season starts on December 1 and features another compelling line-up of blockbusters, new releases and sentimental favourites.
Pull up a beanbag on opening night to catch one of the year’s biggest hits, Thor: Ragnarok. There’ll be plenty of action throughout the season, from the dystopian splendour of Blade Runner 2049 and tense wartime drama Dunkirk, to superhero caper Justice League.
Work the brain stem with left-of-centre Coen Brothers’ outing Suburbicon, and genre-pushing The Killing of a Sacred Deer, starring Nicole Kidman and Colin Farrell.
For something a little lighter, saunter down memory lane with ’90s favourites Home Alone, Men in Black, and the ever-quotable Mean Girls, Juno and Monty Python’s Life of Brian.
Returning for its sixth year, the pop-up cinema has become a summertime staple with its fun, retro Palm Springs vibe, well-stocked refreshment vans and selection of crowd-pleasing flicks. It’s a great date spot but chilled enough for catching up with friends for a drink and snack before the film.
Rooftop Movies is presented by Fringe World festival and runs from December 1 to March 31. View the first program or purchase tickets and gift vouchers at rooftopmovies.com.au.
