This Sunday, the Aspire Group hosts its latest community health event, Healthy Body Happy Mind, in support of mental non-profit organisation, Beyond Blue.

The event begins at City Beach at 8am with participants being led through a series of classes ranging from high-intensity activities to yoga. Healthy snacks and mindfulness session will also be provided and the day will finish with live music.

Aspire Group founder Lloyd Johnson says the day will be about celebrating the group’s ‘do what you can do’ philosophy, an ideal that’s as applicable to elite athletes as it is to those that train and exercise for fun.

“It’s a self-challenge we issue to our participants with no judgement or ego,” he says. “It helps build mental resilience where only the individual knows if they’re putting in their best effort within a task or when encouraging and helping others.”

Johnson says he’s excited to bring food, fitness and holistic health together in the same inclusive, “ego-free” environment cultivated at Aspire.

“We’re firm believers that mental health improvement and a sense of belonging go hand in hand with health and wellness,” he says. “We wanted to create a community and event where we were able to donate more than just money.”

Bodyscape Yoga owner Rosanna Susanto, a former lawyer that has recently finished mental health first aid training, will guide the roll and release session.

“Having come from a corporate environment I've seen a lot and talked to a lot of different people about what they're going through,” she says. “We never know the true story behind even the people we're closest to, let alone the people we just bump into.”

Healthy Body Happy Mind will be held at City Beach on Sunday March 19. Numbers are limited and guests must register online. Guests are asked to bring a mat, water and sunscreen. Donations to Beyond Blue can be made online
