Virgin Australia will commence direct flights between Hobart and Perth in September.

The service will commence on September 17 – operating three days per week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) on a year-round basis – and add more than 54,000 direct seats a year into Tasmania’s travel market. Passengers will fly on the airline’s Boeing 737 aircraft.

Traditionally those wanting to travel to Hobart from Perth have had to make a stopover in an Eastern States capital. The four-hour-and-25-minute direct flight will cut travel times by up to six hours.
