Since its beginnings at the turn of the century, The Brisbane Hotel has come a long way. From an 1898 working man’s pub, the venue has gone through two refits to become the casual, contemporary watering hole it is today.

The warm, earthy fit-out and chilled vibe means you’ll feel like you can settle in. The outback terrace and leafy beer garden pull people on sunny summer afternoons. In the pub there is a couch-filled lounge area and a pool table.

The menu offers pub classics with a touch of refinement. There’s grilled Tasmanian salmon; handmade pappardelle with veal ragu; steak sandwiches; and the quintessential beer-battered barramundi. Simpler fare includes pizzas, dips and koftas.

An extensive wine list is on hand for matching, ranging from house wines up to mid-level bottles mainly from Australia. The tap-beer selection is dominated by large-scale breweries, though craft enthusiasts have some options in a bottle.

There is live comedy three nights a week.
