P’tite Ardoise

From the moment you pass under P’tite Ardoise’s striped red awning and into the warm embrace of muted reds and earthy tones, you’re as close to Paris as you’re ever going to get in Perth.

The word “authentic” gets tossed around like crepe suzette in a pool of Grand Marnier, but in some instances, the word truly does apply. The venue’s garlicky snails, beef cheeks, duck al’orange, crème brulee and stinky cheeses help soothe the homesickness of Perth’s French population. Given P’tite Ardoise translates to “little blackboard,” daily specials are given pride of place.

Much like the French language, the wine list stays true to its roots by focussing on wines from the famed Champagne, Loire Valley, Rhone, Beaujolais and Bordeaux regions.

But the most French thing of all might be P’tite Ardoise’s sense of romance. The close-set space means diners get up close and personal with not only their own dates, but their neighbours’, too. It’s OK. You’re in France now, where personal space and love are shared, unlike the dishes in this classic establishment.
