The Sherry
The Sherry closes over winter.
A surprising but pleasant find, the open-air space that’s home to The Sherry bar is like a decorated New York apartment terrace. The team behind The Flour Factory has done well to use the otherwise wasted space atop the 100-year-old building that once housed a flourmill.
Owner Andy Freeman (Luxe Bar, Varnish on King, Darlings Supper Club) noticed the creeping popularity of sherry overseas and sought to put the fortified wine back in the spotlight here. He felt focussing on something with lower alcohol content was a good decision for the small space, which lends itself to be softer and more cocktail friendly.
Need an intro? Ask for an Amontillado or Oloroso. A favourite of the house is anything from the Emilio Lustau range. For top-notch drops try the Sanchez Romate sherries from the oldest hacienda in Spain, or if you have a sweet-tooth, go for a Pedro Ximénez.
A concise sherry cocktail list aims to please everyone and the staff is well-versed in its contents. The Sherry also offers a decent list of international wines and, happily, food can be ordered from The Flour Factory and enjoyed on the rooftop. Closed in winter.
