Features
Laika Coffee is a cafe and coffee hub serving vibrant brunches in a former washing-machine workshop. The bright spot is named after the famous Soviet space dog.
Laika’s key point of difference is its in-house coffee roastery, jointly owned by Ryan McGinnity, roaster Seb Huigens (ex-Mano a Mano) and barista Ru Teow. The roastery is single-origin only and will not produce blends for milk coffees. The cafe is the flagship for the Laika brand – something like Melbourne’s Seven Seeds – and the owners envision it as a cellar door for coffee.
But brunch plays a big role, too. The all-day menu features standouts like eggs Benny spinoff with slow-cooked beef brisket, potato rosti and chipotle-spiked hollandaise. You might also find house-made crumpets topped with pandan-kaya ricotta, berry jam, pistachio crumb and more. Loaded chicken and veggie burgers are also an option.
