Grouch and Co
At Grouch and Co, coffee is life. The team sources beans from single-origin farmers around the world, adjusting its blend frequently as growing regions move in and out of season.
The beans are roasted in-house, shots are carefully weighed, pulled through custom-built Slayer machines and served in handmade ceramic cups by WA-based Japanese artist, Naomi Sugi.
If espresso isn’t your thing, Grouch and Co also makes pour-over and syphon, as well as a range of delicate teas and a fridge full of grab-and-go food, including meals by NOOD.
For owners Ren and Greg Taylor, details are everything. They choose to only source high-quality products from people who know and care about their crafts. From the choice of almond milk (Pure Press), to the selection of locally and internationally sourced furniture, attention to the particular is what sets Grouch and Co apart.
This care extends to the fit-out. The former warehouse was gutted and fitted with just the essentials: polished-concrete floors, a reading chair, two tables and some fresh blooms. The space is quiet, the light is natural and the baristas know your name (and mostly importantly, their product).
