From disco courtyard to nice date spot, Naber is a two-in-one neighbourhood bar fashioned to take you from day to night.

Business in the front, party in the back is the bar’s MO with the old Varga Girl site divided into two separate venues: an intimate, moody bar with booths, a large communal table and nooks for dining and drinking, and a breezy all-day casual bar with high tables, stools and disco balls hanging from the tree.

Two compact menus continue the dual theme, with a zero-waste ethos and sustainably sourced ingredients at the forefront of the kitchen’s vision. On the menu you might find abalone pasta, and a pig toast featuring pig’s-head terrine with Bread Bros Vegemite rye and fig-and-pét-nat jam.

Move to the courtyard to get your hands dirty on Japanese “disco fries” with golden curry and melted cheese. Here, you’ll also find soft shell crab sandos with devilled egg salad, an ice cream sundae with Spritz jelly and white chocolate, and more.

Beyond the wine and beer lists, which feature local producers such as Nowhereman Brewing Co, Beerfarm, Shelter, Voyager Estate, Blind Corner and Local Weirdos, you’ll find a thorough cocktail selection (with hand-cut ice, naturally) including a juicy Watermelon Cruiser garnished with a giant slice of watermelon, a Mojito made with green ants and a banoffee-style Old Fashioned with banana, macadamia and shortbread.
